Ekostil.se did an exclusive interview with Ryan Roxie earlier this fall. Ryan, the man, the myth, the rock n’ roll guitar-man. Roxie, who has worked with GnR members Slash (Slash’s Snakepit) and Gilby Clarke. Plus he’s toured, recorded and played golf with Alice Cooper. Now Ryan Roxie has transformed the Swedish rockband Happypill to Roxie 77. The circle is now closed. Or just beginning to roll?
Ryan, tell me about the new band, is it Roxie 77 2.0?
- Yeah you can say that. It our best attempt at a new and improved Roxie 77 ( laughter) but with all Swedish Happypill-members. It’s myself on guitar and vocals, Anton Körberg (drums), Dr. Eric Rydman (Keybord and oh yes ladies and sick people, he is a doctor) and Magnus Wikström(bass).
- It’s a fresh start for all of us and we are now working with our new album ” Two sides to every story”. A reflection of my own ”story” of my current state in life….. as well as for all the ”stories” told around us. There is always two sides of every story, you know? Sometimes more, but always at least two.
But it’s not all of it. The new album is also something unique and you are releasing it in a green way?
- Yes. The whole album is being promoted and marketed in a unique and ”green” way you could say. . You actually get two versions of the each song, released simultaneosly in both electric and acoustic formats. So basically it is a double album with 24 tracks. Double up of everything! But this is not all of it.
- We have released the album in a green ecological way – on the net. One new track a week. So after 24 weeks the album is complete. And the best of it. You pay as much as you like, cause half of every sold track goes to charity!
Wow, I’m totally impressed. I will definitely buy your new album. And do you live ecological Ryan?
- Ecological living is so Rock’n Roll. I try to, as much as I can. I have done my best to turn the whole recycling process to a fun game with the children. We go to the recycling area at least once a week. Not the small one with only paper and glass, but the ”big” one where you can recycle pretty much everything. My two kids are loving it. We are cheering and singing and recycling. They learn at the same time as it becomes a natural habit for them get into.
